Bonnyrigg & Lasswade Local History Society is pleased to announce that four primary schools within the Bonnyrigg & Lasswade area will be taking part in this year’s local history project competition for Primary 5 classes.
The competition which has now been running annually since 2012, has proved to be very popular with the schools and is in memory of one of our founder members, Dr Mary Noble who was very much involved in raising an awareness of the wealth of local history that our area has to offer to our local schools.
The four primary schools taking part are Bonnyrigg, Burnbrae, Hawthornden and Lasswade.
This year’s theme is “The History of My School”.
We do hope that this will be an interesting topic for the Primary 5 classes to research during January and February and look forward to receiving the competition entries by the deadline date of Friday 1st March 2019.
The entries may be in multi-media format e.g. a film/DVD, an MS PowerPoint Presentation saved on a memory stick or in hand-made/hand written format e.g. an illustrated booklet or brochure. We have left this entirely up to the Primary 5 classes. The only stipulation made is that whichever format is chosen that it is readily accessible/readable for our independent judging panel.
The winning school will be presented with the trophy together with a cheque of £100 on the evening of Wednesday 20th March 2019 at 7:30pm in Bonnyrigg Parish Church, High Street, Bonnyrigg.
Each of the four primary schools are cordially invited to send ten children from their Primary 5 classes together with their parents and teachers to attend the presentation ceremony.
Directly after the ceremony, refreshments of tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided in the Pitcairn Centre [across the High Street from the Church].
All of the children attending will also each receive a “goody bag”.
