The following inventory covers a collection of papers, photographs etc. gifted to the Society by the McTaggart Family. All material mentioned is held in storage by the Local Studies Department of Midlothian Council Libraries Headquarters and can be viewed by appointment.
The inventory may be extended in due course to include further items.

Display cards of miscellaneous material used for exhibition work.
BOX 2
Original leather case containing original newspaper cuttings of obituary notices of William McTaggart’s death – Saturday 2 April 1910.
BOX 3
Collection of family photographs comprising of three albums.
Gold coloured nurses’ pin with enamelled red cross. Pin inscribed Kingsknowe 1915-1919.
Silver engraved Maltese cross. Inscription including BMcT and July 26 1905 with silver hallmark.
Both these items belonged to Betty McTaggart – one of the daughters of William.
Small box containing three glass plate negatives.
1. Landing at St Columba
2. A milkmaid
3. Two figures – unknown subject
Two original brass nameplates for William McTaggart’s home at Dean Park, Broomieknowe, Bonnyrigg.
One addressed label from Drummond, Young and Watson photographers Edinburgh. Date unknown.

Fourteen original sketch pads/notebooks.
One watercolour of postcard size together with cover.
Envelope containing sketches by Betty McTaggart.
All contents of this box belonged to Betty McTaggart.

Royal Society of Edinburgh Year Book 1982 containing obituary notices for Sir William MacTaggart – see page 53.
Two VHS videotapes of BBC documentary series called “The Bigger Picture”. This features material on William McTaggart.

This box contains 195 miscellaneous photographs of McTaggart paintings mostly in black and white or sepia.
Manuscript, which attempts to identify the subjects of all previously mentioned photographs.
