I hope that you are all keeping well and are managing to cope with the COVID-19 restrictions that have been with us now for more than 18 months. They have certainly prevented us from meeting face to face and have forced us to adapt by moving all our activities online.
The good news is that we can now move forward as we have reached agreement with Bonnyrigg Parish Church to hold our meetings again in the Pitcairn Centre.
Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday 20th October, and this will be a “Welcome Back Members’ Night”. Andrew Renwick and Neil Stewart will be delving into our archive to find some items and articles that they hope will be of interest to everyone and will also stimulate face to face conversation.
However, we must adhere to certain rules such as wearing our face masks, sanitising our hands, and recording our names for Track & Trace.
Presently, there is also an attendance limit of 30 people at the Pitcairn Centre, but we hope that this will gradually be eased as we move forward in the coming months. Our meetings will continue to be held there on the third Wednesday evening of each month from October 2021 through to April 2022, with exception of December.
We are also looking into the possibility of holding a Christmas Lunch at the Broomieknowe Golf Club, following the success of this event in previous years.
It is important that you let me know as soon as possible if you intend coming to our first meeting so that we can gauge numbers. If we have more than 30 members wishing to attend, we would then have to use Bonnyrigg Parish Church.
We will be issuing memberships starting from October, however, due to increased insurance and other essential operating costs, your committee has had to approve a very necessary increase in subscriptions. These will now be £10.00 for members [per annum] and £5.00 [per meeting], for visitors.
All replies should be sent to me, please, as soon as possible, either by email email@example.com or post.
